Contract Product Designer

2017 - 2018

Overview

As a Contract Product Designer at Quore, a leading SaaS platform for the hospitality industry, I focused on improving the user experience of the Inventory feature. My primary goal was to empower hotel staff with clear and actionable insights into their inventory data, achieved through clean, responsive, and easily digestible visualizations of key performance indicators.

To achieve this, I designed a completely new system for displaying KPIs and data, a significant departure from Quore's existing interface. This involved developing a new visual hierarchy, utilizing intuitive data representations, and implementing a user-friendly card-based layout for improved readability. I also introduced a redesigned navigation system, including a new header, sub-navigation, and application menu, enhancing the overall user experience and platform usability.

Results

• Improved user understanding of key metrics through a new KPI and data event display
• Reduced inventory management time by estimated 20-35%
• Increased key feature findability by estimated 15-25%
• Boosted user efficiency with improved navigation and information hierarchy
• Strengthened customer branding by adding hotel logos to Quore's navigation

Pre-redesign state of the Quore Inventory feature and header navigation, before my design improvements.

Based on a comprehensive list of customer complaints and requests, a key reason for my hiring, I redesigned Quore's Inventory feature to include this new KPI overview dashboard. It provides a comprehensive view of key metrics, including warranty lifespan forecasting, expense tracking, trending issue identification, and a summary of recently completed tasks. Responding directly to customer feedback, I also incorporated at-a-glance summaries for work orders, monthly preventative maintenance (PMs) performed, and remaining monthly budget.

A key design challenge for Quore's inventory management screens was to present detailed information for individual items while also providing flexible and easily understandable group views. This shows the implemented solution.

Marketing Design & Photography

Beyond the core interface design, I contributed significantly to Quore's visual identity by personally photographing and designing a series of posters featuring key user personas of the platform. I also incorporated illustrations into the final poster designs. This approach helped humanize the software, adding a personal touch to the brand and connecting with the everyday experiences of hotel staff, such as housekeepers, front desk agents, and maintenance personnel.

The posters highlighted each user's experience with Quore, including how long they'd used the software, their preferred feature, and a quote reflecting their thoughts. These visuals were strategically used across marketing materials, the main Quore landing page, and email campaigns to strengthen brand presence and resonate with the target audience.

I created a custom-designed holiday card that was physically mailed to all users of the Quore software and their associated hotels.
